Hello, I'm Jai Prakash Veerla

I'm a Google Student Researcher & CS PhD Candidate studying AI + HCI + Bioinformatics at UTA

I work with Dr. Jacob Luber in the MICHI - Health Data Science Lab at UTA.

My research focuses on enhancing clinical decision-making by bridging cutting-edge AI with intuitive human-centric design. My core focus areas include:

  • Multimodal Medical AI: Developing high-speed Diffusion Vision-Language Models (VLMs) and fine-tuning foundation models for complex diagnostics in radiology, ophthalmology, and pathology.
  • Immersive HCI in Healthcare: Building interactive mixed-reality (XR) environments and conversational AI agents to visualize whole slide images (WSI) and medical data.
  • Trustworthy AI: Advancing the safety, interpretability, and robustness of Large Language Models (LLMs) and VLMs through adversarial testing, jailbreak mitigation, and transparent decision-making frameworks.

I am mentored by Dr. Jacob Luber, Dr. Cesar Torres, Dr. VP Nguyen, and Dr. Jiayi Meng, who are members of my PhD Committee.
